Where We’ve Been
Generations Church launched on November 4, 2006 with a VISION to reconcile people to Jesus and close the gaps between the generations in church ministry. In considering pioneering a church in Lubbock (my home town) my thoughts were . . . Why another church in Lubbock? The Lord gave me a resounding YES because my calling and gifting has always been to win the lost. (Pastor Ed) The very first weekend Generations Church met, we had an outreach in a park in an under privileged part of Lubbock. That day we saw nine people commit their lives to Christ for first time. We have continued to see more people receive God’s love outside our four walls than we have inside them.
In November of 2007, because our congregation had grown, we moved our services to the Science Spectrum. Our Congregation continued to grow as we met there on Sunday mornings and continued our midweek home meetings for over a year.
In February of 2009, the Lord answered our prayers for a space of our own, and we moved into 3838 50th Street. From this location, we had many wonderful opportunities to reach out and touch the city of Lubbock.
In September of 2014, we purchased and owned our first building at 5201 University! We are so excited to see what God will do in and through us in the future. He has given us a physical structure to do ministry in but we are most excited to see him build His church, which is US, his people! We have had the joy of continuing to reach outside our church with the added bonus of a neighborhood of churches who want to build God’s kingdom together.
“One generation shall praise your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts” Psalm 145:4
When our pastor was called to pioneer Generations Church, God impressed this scripture on his heart. It is the mission of Generations Church to bridge the gap between generations in our congregation. We desire to see all ages serving along side one another to build the kingdom of God.
Where We’re Going- Our Vision
Generations Church will:
TOUCH THE CITY – In our outreaches we strive to touch the hearts of those who need to know that Jesus loves them and cares for them. We uncompromisingly preach the good news of Jesus every time the doors are open. To date, we have held several yearly events such as Block Party Outreaches, Fall Festival, Servolution, and our Restoration Ministry to our neighborhood.
TEACH THE NATION – Because of the invitations and gifting of our lead pastor, we are empowered to go when opportunities arise to fulfill the Great Commission. For instance, we send teams to Mardi Gras and Hollywood yearly to share their testimonies on the streets. Our Pastor, Ed Ainsworth, speaks in many schools across the nation on the subject of sexual purity.
TRAIN THE WORLD – Pastor Ed takes individuals and groups on yearly mission trips. Some examples of these are his trips to the Mongolia , Transnestria, Romania, Czech Republic and other locales to speak/teach at Youth Conferences, as well as, Pastor’s Conferences.
What We Believe
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things; that He exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; and that He is totally loving and completely holy.
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives. It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths.
We believe that mankind was created in the image of God but through voluntary disobedience he sinned and fell; that sin separates each of us from God and His purpose for our lives; and that Jesus Christ is the only One who can reconcile us to God.
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin; that He was crucified and died in order that we may be forgiven of all of our sins and be able to be in right relationship with God; that He was buried and rose again in three days to prove victory over death and to empower us in life.
We believe in the salvation of sinners through grace and faith; that salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or any human effort; and that we can receive forgiveness when we repent of our sins, believe in Jesus Christ, and confess that He is our Lord and Savior.
We believe that Jesus commands each believer to be baptized in water; that water baptism is not the means of salvation, but an act of worship and obedience following salvation; and that full-immersion (as opposed to “sprinkling”) is the most accurate biblical demonstration.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit; that it is a separate experience from salvation and water baptism that initiates a decisively new awareness of the all-powerful presence of God working in one’s life and usually involves one or more spiritual gifts; that it is a promise of our Heavenly Father to all believers; and that it is administered by prayer and the laying on of hands by another spirit-filled believer.
We believe that God has equipped each of us so that we can successfully achieve God’s purpose for our lives which is to worship God, find and fulfill our role in the Church, and serve the community in which we live.
We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
